SERAFIN

2am at the Torch Café CD

SERAFIN is an utterly unique Canadian vocalist, possessing a startling 5 octave vocal range and powerful stage presence that mesmerizes audiences.

Blending torch, jazz and blues re-workings of pop standards, 2am At The Torch Café is produced by Toronto jazz impresario Jaymz Bee (Look People, Royal Jelly Orchestra, JAZZFM.91 producer and host) for Timely Manor/Universal.

Juno Award winners Tony Quarrington and Richard Underhill, Grammy Award nominee Kevin Clark join some of Toronto’s finest jazz musicians for Serafin’s haunting interpretations of songs like Everybody Hurts, The Crying Game and Here Comes The Rain Again, while revisiting the classics At Last and My Funny Valentine.  The album also features a captivating remix of Here Comes the Rain Again by Switzerland’s Walter Zweiffel.

Serafin performs frequently across Canada, with a backing ensemble that ranges from a trio to a big band tentet, and opens for Canadian music icon Alfie Zappacosta during the September leg of his national tour.

Online sales of 2am At The Torch Café at Jazzpromo.com and CDBaby.com are strong, selling out twice within one month of launching, and Serafin’s website www.serafin.ca is currently #2 on the Google Search engine under ‘Serafin’.  iTunes downloads are generating healthy revenue each month through CD Baby, and Jazzpromo.com European solicitation has garnered positive reviews and airplay in Germany, Italy, Britain, France and The Netherlands.

Canadian radio supports 2am At The Torch Café in both the jazz and adult contemporary markets, with songs added to the playlists of CJMR AM1320, AM740, JAZZFM.91, various campus stations and CBC affiliates.  Bravo Television has featured Serafin on their Bravo News segment, which was picked up by national affiliated stations.  The music video for My Funny Valentine has aired on Bravo as well.

Ralph Benmergui, JazzFm91

Serafin enchants, frightens, quickens the pulse… a true diva of song” – Mark Breslin, Yuk Yuk’s, producer of New Year’s Eve at Massey Hall

Who’d a thunk Crying Game had such a great melody – a perfect torch song.”
-Tad Graham, Noosa Community Radio FM 101.3FM, Australia
